It was pointed out to me by a dear gentleman friend — one brave enough not only to be in my life but with the stones to read a little pink book on his lunch hour, in public, tie on and everything — who said, “Hey, did you notice that in the back of your book it mentions your next book will be Chain-Smoking Vegetarians and Other Annoyances in L.A.?”

Considering I had completely forgotten I had written that novel until I had a conversation with another friend at the start of May (she mentioned her co-worker was getting her book published by [redacted] and I said, “That’s great. My novel was sent there and…oh, yeah, I wrote a novel.”), no, it didn’t notice, let alone remember. This coinky-dink here is that I was working on the novel as he was reading that little pink book.

After that May conversation/recollection, I decided to take a look at what I had forgotten. I pulled it out to see if it still had legs. It did, and I was surprised that I actually liked it. Many times, as a writer, you will go back to something and hang your head in shame by about the forth or fifth sentence. Granted, it was pretty dusty — you’d be surprised at all the changes that have happened since 2006. (I mean, who has a BlackBerry anymore? Well, one friend of mine does, but aside from that?) So, I started editing it down, bringing it into this decade and decided to release it as an e-book on Amazon. Et voila:

It only took me ten years to keep my word, but I did. To continue the coinky-dink, it was released on June 30th, almost exactly ten years to the day that I started Sassy (June 24th).

I love how life can be so serendipitous. But, really, I should be concerned that I forgot an entire book. (I’ve been busy and distracted.) If you are looking for a breezy summer read, I hope you’ll give it a look. The reviews are just now starting to trickle in. I’d love to hear what you think of it, too. Cheers! xo
